Trauma Informed Therapy

Trauma Informed Therapy is a therapeutic approach that recognizes and understands the pervasive nature and impact of trauma. It emphasizes the physical, psychological, and emotional safety of the client and helps survivors rebuild a sense of control and empowerment. The goals of trauma informed therapy are to address the symptoms and behaviors resulting from trauma and empower individuals with the skills and understanding necessary for long-term healing and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps people identify & change thinking and behavior patterns that are harmful or ineffective, replacing them with more accurate thoughts and functional behaviors. It can help a person focus on current problems and how to solve them.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a specific type of CBT that helps regulate emotions. It teaches new skills to help people take personal responsibility to change unhealthy or disruptive behavior.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach designed to help people heal from traumatic experiences. EMDR uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like tapping or sounds) while the person recalls distressing memories. This process helps the brain reprocess the memories, reducing their emotional intensity and enabling more adaptive thinking. EMDR is widely used for PTSD but is also effective for anxiety, phobias, and other emotional difficulties.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) views the mind as made up of multiple sub-personalities or "parts," each with its own perspectives and roles. These parts typically include:

  • Exiles – carry pain or trauma.

  • Managers – try to prevent hurt by controlling situations.

  • Firefighters – distract from pain through impulsive behaviors.

At the core of each person is the Self, a calm, compassionate center that can lead the internal system with balance and healing. IFS therapy focuses on helping individuals access the Self to understand and harmonize their internal parts, promoting healing and integration.

Exposure Therapy

Exposure Therapy is a psychological treatment that helps people confront their fears or anxiety-provoking situations in a controlled, gradual way. By safely facing what they typically avoid—whether it's a place, object, memory, or thought—they can reduce fear over time. It's commonly used to treat phobias, PTSD, OCD, and anxiety disorders, helping retrain the brain's response to perceived threats.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy is an in-depth talk therapy. This therapy helps the client to look at the psychological causes of emotional distress. The individual is encouraged to self-reflect and self-examine to uncover and understand personal relationship patterns.
